Who we are

Vakna is run by Vakna, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Vakna”, “we”). We decide what happens to the personal data described here.

What we keep when you join the waitlist

  • your email address
  • the time you signed up
  • the words you saw beside the form: “Leave your email and we'll tell you when you can try it.”

That’s all. We don’t ask for your name, and we don’t build a profile of you.

Why, and on what basis

To email you when you can try Vakna, as the form says, and for nothing else. We do this with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us.

We check addresses, limit sign-ups and count visits because we have a legitimate interest in a real list and a working site.

Who handles it for us

We’re a US company, so what you give us is processed in the US.

  • Resend keeps the list in the US and sends our emails from Ireland.
  • Google (Google Workspace) handles email you send us, and our replies.
  • Vercel hosts this site and runs the sign-up form. Like any host, it handles your IP address to deliver the page.

All three are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and their data processing terms include standard contractual clauses.

We don’t sell your address, share it with anyone else or add it to other lists.

Our emails

They carry no tracking: no pixels that report when you open them, and no links that report when you click. Every one has an unsubscribe link that takes you off the list in one click.

Checking your address, and spam protection

When you sign up, we check that your address’s domain can receive email (a lookup of the domain’s mail servers, not of you), and we may suggest a fix for a likely typo. To stop automated sign-ups, we hold your IP address for a few minutes, in memory, to limit how often one address can sign up. We don’t store it. Vercel’s request logs keep it for 30 days.

Analytics and cookies

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t track you across sites: it tells us how many people visited, not who they are. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we don’t count your visit. This site sets no cookies.

The page remembers where you moved the box and whether you chose light or dark, in your browser’s local storage. That stays on your device and never reaches us. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.

How long we keep it

Until we’ve invited you and 12 months have passed, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. If we close the waitlist, we delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, object to it, or take a copy. We’ll answer within a month. You can withdraw your consent at any time. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office), though we’d like the chance to put it right first.
